Music Without Borders

YAEL was founded in 2021 by Anna Woźnicka as an artistic space where Jewish music could be juxtaposed with traditional sounds and patterns from other musical cultures. The project is built on the belief that musical traditions are never truly separate — they breathe, migrate, and transform through contact with one another.

The ensemble brings together musicians specialising in ethnic music who embrace improvisation alongside artists with classical training and deep knowledge of synagogue music. This unusual combination of voices and approaches allows YAEL to create programmes that are simultaneously rooted in history and entirely contemporary.
